Proclamation of Sam Houston 1835
This antiqued parchment poster depicts an exact replica of an original weathered broadsheet of the Proclamation of Sam Houston, Commander-in-Chief of the Army of Texas, which was issued on December 12, 1835. Gen. Houston's proclamation was an impassioned call for volunteer troops to fight for the Independence of Texas. It concludes with the words: "Let the brave rally to our standard!"
